Guys think we are over exaggerating. There were so many situations that I also had to make an assessment and came to the conclusion I should have a weapon hidden on me just in case. I keep a mini screw driver in my purse. It is an eye glasses screw driver, but it can do a decent amount of damage.

Gideon Mendel’s The Ward

Memories from the heart of the Aids crisis shows true love in a time of terrible tragedy.

These heartbreaking and incredibly moving images show the affection and love shown during the height of the Aids crisis. Photographer Gideon Mendel’s project The Ward began in 1993 when he spent a number of weeks on the Charles Bell wards in London’s Middlesex Hospital. All the patients on the ward were dying with the knowledge that there was no cure for the disease. During this time antiretroviral medications were not available and patients on the ward faced the prospect of an early death.

Anyone else tired of the 3 guy 1 girl character setup in literally every movie ever?

It’s because at roughly that ratio is where men feel that men and women are represented equally.

There was a study done and when there was 1:1 male/female the male audiences felt as though there were more too many women. In general the men studied perceived things like 3 guys to 1 girl as more representative of the world.

That disgusts me.

There have also been studies in which it was found that men think women talk much more than they actually do - if they have to share equal air time with a woman they think they’re not getting a word in edgewise.

Imagine being so used to privilege and prioritization to think that the equal treatment of others is an unfairness to you.

a crowd scene that is 17% women is considered ‘too much’ when women are half of the population.
